“It’s a bad day to be a wing,” freshman Jack Grimes said with a mouth full of chicken.
With the start of wing days during Lent, Grimes and a group of friends began their monthly “wing eating contest.”
Disappointed at the end of Chick-fil-a days, freshman Colton Crabb soon became one of the groups most prominent eaters taking down 32 wings and winning the boys’ April 29 contest. According to Crabb, this is the most any in the group have eaten thus far.
“We got one tray, and we were like ‘no, it’s not enough’,” Crabb said. “So we kept going back, and got more and more and more.”
For the eaters, entrance into the group is exclusive.
“You had to be at the first wing table,” Crabb said.
Some of the boys have designated roles like freshman Jack Grimes, the “Napkin Boy,” or Logan Snowder, the “Tray Boy.”
