Volleyball Grows Together

Team bonding, new season

The key to a successful season is being able to rely on your team with a side reward of making unforgettable friendships.

“Spending time with everyone was really fun and in my four years, this is the closest varsity has ever been,” senior Sydney Salomon said.

During the summer the volleyball team spent their time bonding by doing several activities.

“It’s to make us closer as a team and be able to trust each other on the court,” junior Ashley Fair said.

The varsity team attended camp at Texas Christian University and had a tennis tournament at Quail Creek Country Club. After finishing the tournament, the team went to a player’s house to swim and eat lunch.

As motivation, Roy names a player of the week. She looks for those who have been “hustling on the court, working extra hard, and a great teammate to the other girls.” Along with the player of the week, Roy puts up a word of the week to motivate them as well.

The girls look forward to the rest of the season and achieve their main goal: to take the title of state champion.

“We want to have the best record we can,” Roy said. “We want to improve in every match that we play, and improve as a team,” Roy said.“The bigger dream is to be state champs.”
