Wednesday, 58 seniors received their red cords during Mass in recognition of their commitment to serving the community. Senior Gia-Luc Nguyen enjoys serving and helping around his church, which has led him to accumulate 930 hours.
“I’ve always liked being able to do things for other people,” senior Nguyen said. “It’s also a good habit to build. Even if there’s an incentive at first, eventually you reach a point where you help others simply because you want to.”
Campus Minister Kelly Golbuff described the impacts that service has on the students.
“Doing all of this service helps them get outside of their comfort zones, forming connections with other people that maybe they wouldn’t have otherwise,” Gollbuff said.
With the completion of 300 hours seniors received a red cord to wear at graduation.
