Having played football since he was eight, senior Gavin Brazil has committed to McPherson College with a 60% athletic scholarship.
A big reason Brazil wanted to go to the Kansas college is because one of his best friends who is a senior at Edmond North is also attending McPherson next year.
“I think it’ll be great to play with him, and we’ll probably be roommates,” Brazil said.
Brazil plans to study either business or science and is excited to be a part of the McPherson football team.
“It’s a really good school for football,” Brazil said. “They went 9-2 last year, so I’m excited for that and great coaching.”
Brazil attends a football program called Trench Mafia that helped him get recognized by colleges. Trench Mafia is a program hosted by former NFL Super Bowl Champion J.R. Conrad.
“I built a lot of connections off of him, and he’s also great for leading me towards my faith, too, because we’ll have like a three-hour session every Saturday, and then we’ll talk about Christ for 30 minutes after,” Brazil said.
For Brazil, family played a big part in his commitment. McPherson is close to home being only three hours away. Brazil’s family is full of athletes with many family members becoming college athletes.
“It’s definitely like a big deal to find a place that’s comfortable for me, like to grow and all my family supports me and understands,” Brazil said.
