After a long summer break, a new school year has begun, which means a whole group of freshmen to welcome.
The welcoming process of freshmen begins even before school starts with orientation.
“For orientation, it’s more getting them ready for school technology, how classes work, how bell schedules work and things like that,” Freshman Counselor Laura Castrop said.
After orientation, the first day of school starts off the welcome week for the new freshman.
“Welcome Week is a starting point for making friends, and socializing,” Castrop said.
For some freshmen, the first day can be intimidating.
“It was really scary, I was pretty nervous because I didn’t know where my friends were gonna be,” freshman Isabella Ellison said. “But when I went through the whole day, I made a lot of new friends, and am super excited to spend the rest of the year with them.”
Throughout orientation and welcome week, the freshmen are taught how to adapt to the life of being a high schooler.”
“Just join all the clubs you can because it’s so important to not hold yourself back,” Senior Class President Sophia Hart said.
As the school year continues, there are even more changes to come for the freshmen.
“I love to see the start of freshman year to the end of freshman year, helping them find that right fit for the first year of high school,” Castrop said.
