Sunday, junior artists Emelia Chambers, Angela Williams and Morgan St. John were featured in the Oklahoma City Festival of the Arts.
The festival, an OKC tradition since 1967, offers both visual and performing arts in downtown OKC’s Bicentennial Park. While Williams has shared her art in the festival for three years, the experience was a first for St. John and Chambers.
Williams explained that selling her art and jewelry in the festival has helped her learn about a career in art.
“It’s giving me experience in selling art,” Williams said.
Chambers also said the festival is helping her to see the entrepreneurial part of creating her own handmade jewelry.
“I really like it,” Chambers said. “I think it’s helping me get a look into selling my own stuff, pricing my own things.”
For St. John, selling her ceramics pieces and jewelry has created a networking opportunity as an artist.
“I think being an artist especially in Oklahoma with the arts festival, I think it has just makes really good connections,” St. John said.
All three artists said they plan to return to the festival next year as they work toward future dreams of creating art professionally.
