With finals on the way and students worrying about tests, deadlines and grades, StuCo’s Destress Fest offers a way to take some of that pressure off.
This event offers a way for students to unwind and “destress” while studying for final exams. This annual tradition includes giving students candy and allowing them to visit with service dogs.
“We have one service dog coming to visit,” StuCo sponsor Susan Smith said. “His name is Mason, and he is a golden retriever. It’s a time to kind of remove yourself from studying, relax or de-stress, just do something fun.”
Senior class president Amy Le helped organize the event to aid students in a much needed study break.
“Many students have large workloads and take multiple AP classes, and if there is something to help lower stress levels or provide a time for students to relax, the Destress Fest is something I hope that students will enjoy before the stressful three days of final exams,” Le said.
With service hours being due, StuCo members have an opportunity to earn some extra hours by helping with the event.
“For service hours, I could make puppy chow and bring it on Monday,” sophomore Cassie Bannister said. “There’s going to be dogs here for kids to hang out with and pet. If you do 12 bags, you get a service hour.”
The Destress fest is today from 3-3:30 p.m. in the commons.
