Many students have grandparents and parents who have attended this school before them. On Grandparents Day, these students brought back their grandparents to enjoy some memories and donuts.
Freshman Carson Sanders was at Grandparents Day talking to his grandparents while enjoying some refreshments presented by Coach Ryan Stringer’s Leadership class. Sanders’ grandmother JoAnn Brown, who is a BMCHS graduate, was surprised at the changes since her time at McGuinness.
“We talked a lot about people and my classes and how different things are now,” Sanders said.
Freshman Camryn Kanaly’s grandparents met in the hallways during their years at the school, and the sweethearts later married and chose to send their children to the school. Kanaly’s father ran cross country, and former president and principal David Morton was his coach.
Her first year at the school, sophomore Lilly Morton felt blessed to have her grandfather, David Morton, on campus with her. She said she wishes that her grandfather could have stayed longer, but ultimately loved the year she got to spend with him at the school.
“I was excited because I don’t get to see him a lot because he’s so busy with school, and so I was really excited to get to see him everyday,” Morton said. “I’d come up to see him after school, so I was looking forward to being here.
Over 50 grandparents attended both Mass and the breakfast on Grandparents Day. Many students enjoyed the time they got to spend with their family members and the trips down memory lane.
