Rush week is an exciting time many seniors are looking forward to as they are getting ready to go to college.
Many would say joining Greek life is a way to make friends and jump out of your comfort zone.
“I am planning on rushing because pretty much my whole family has gone through Greek life and they loved it,” Senior Emy Shaw said.
Shaw is attending Oklahoma State University next fall, and like other seniors, is ready to expand her horizons.
“I am feeling very excited,” Shaw said. “I’m excited to meet new people and create new friendships.”
Along with Shaw, Senior Allie Scholze, who is attending the University of Oklahoma, is thrilled to begin rush in the fall.
“Ever since I was little, I always saw the older girls who were in sororities and it always looked like something I would be interested in,” Scholze said. “Rush is a great place to meet new people. Making new friends is what I am most excited for.”
Finding roommates for your freshman year is also a very important part of going to college.
People find their roommates through all different kinds of ways.
Some room with friends they’ve known for years, while others connect through social media.
“I have three roommates,” Scholze said. “I found them through mutual friends. We connected and instantly became friends.”
Senior Clara Peyton, who is attending DePaul University, found her roommate through instagram.
“I posted on Instagram and she chatted with me saying she felt like we’d get along,” Peyton said. “I looked at her Instagram and other social media and thought she’d be great.”
These seniors are more than thrilled to start a new chapter in their lives through rushing a sorority and rooming with new people.
