Senior Chisa Nwanebu had the opportunity to compete in the Academic Bowl All-State Games as one of the top 36 seniors in the state.
The games were held April 20 at Redlands Community College, where Nwanebu and 35 other seniors were randomly divided into teams of four. The teams competed in two toss-up rounds to answer 20 questions and two 60 second rounds to answer the most questions in order to earn the most points. Based on different subjects, the games included math, science, pop culture and history.
Nwanebu said the event was a round-robin tournament where each team faced one another at least once.
“It was really fun,” Nwanebu said. “The questions were really interesting, and it was very low stress. No one was intense about it, so it was just nice to have answered questions.
Nwanebu was chosen for the opportunity based on the number of points he had gained for his team throughout the Academic Bowl season.
