Cheer and Pom have been working extremely long and hard hours in practice to prepare for this year’s state showing.
State causes a lot of stress on the Cheer and Pom teams, but also brings the team closer together. “Performing in front of the judges gives you a lot of adrenaline, and is also very scary and intimidating. So before the performance, the team really encourages each other. Encouraging each other and practicing together really brings us closer.” Junior Lily Cunningham said.
Although performing at state for the cheer and Pom teams is very nerve wracking, the coaches make sure everyone is prepared and ready.
“We do our routine three times a week at practice. We also watch videos after every practice and correct each other’s mistakes to see what we can do better.” Junior Evey Atchison said.
In front of judges, cheer and pom girls feel a lot of pressure. The cheer and Pom teams both say the best way to deal with all this stress is encouraging teammates and boosting each other’s confidence.
“We’ve learned a lot of different ways to encourage each other that really help everyone. When we cheer each other on, we go out more confident and know we’re ready for what we’re about to do.” Atchison said.
With all their preparations, cheer and pom girls are able to go out with excitement, confidence, and feeling ready to go.
