Clancy Club has made many changes this year with sponsor Sarai Cerano and new co-sponsor counselor Dillon Walker.
One of the changes was extending the period of time students had to vote for homecoming queen. Walker said the goal was getting more students involved in school voting.
“We tried to step in and be a little more communicative with the members,” Walker said. “We wanted to find out what they wanted from it.”
And, instead of having students join the club on their own, the sponsors have nominated students to be a part of the club.
“If you’re going to be president of Clancy Club, we want to make sure you know what you’re getting yourself into.” Walker said. “We want to make sure teachers and people would recommend you for a position.”
Students are nominated based on their school involvement and spirit, which junior Ashlyn Dolan has a lot of.
“I am involved in a lot of other school activities, which is why I think I was nominated,” Dolan said. “This is my first year as a member at large for Clancy Club. I am glad I was nominated because I wasn’t planning on joining the club, but I am grateful the opportunity was presented to me.”
