Volleyball secured another win on September 19th, against Bishop Kelly.
“The last time we beat them was in 2019” head coach Kelli Miller said. “We’ve only beaten them three times in the last 10 years including the win on Tuesday.”
The team is currently ranked No. 1 in class 5A with a 19-3 record. This current winning streak has something to do with a tougher mentality as a team.
“I think what I like about this team is they’ve got really great chemistry already. So they’re obviously determined and really driven to say the things they’re going to do.” Miller said.
The team has a lot of goals this season including winning state, there are some things they’ve done to make sure those goals get accomplished.
“We’re just coming off a goal talk last week, and the team has put to action really quickly the goals that we had talked about just a week prior.” Miller said.
In Tuesday’s game there were several defensive members of the team who helped the team to secure the win against Bishop Kelley.
“Taylor Van, Hailey-Jane Johnson, and Kenzie Smith did a really great job of getting balls up that helped us run our hitters.” Miller said
Along with the defensive players, there were also key offensive players that made it possible for them to secure the win against Bishop Kelly.
“Ella Christiansen and Greer Deleon’s blocking was really, really strong. I think that Olivia Metz was a really consistent hitter for us as was Greer,” Miller said.
Since the Bishop Kelly game the team has won against Shawnee and is playing Community Christian tonight September 25th.
